Mission Statement

Size can be an asset for some businesses, but it is overrated for purposes of choosing a law firm.  How many times have injured people like you gone to a large law firm and been overcharged and under-served by someone who does not know you, or care about you and your problems?

Briggs & Counsel, located in Rockport, Maine, gets to know you, works hard at understanding your injury, legal needs and earning your trust, and attempts to give you what you need when you need it.  Our typical client is a severely injured person whose life has been disrupted through no fault of his or her own.  Our clients look to us to solve problems beyond their resources or expertise.  We understand the emotions involved when facing threatening health and financial issues and attack them with logic and confidence that only years and variety of experience can provide.

While few legal services are inexpensive, Briggs & Counsel always offers its personal injury clients the benefit of paying attorneys fees on a contingent fee basis for claims.  This means there is no legal fee if there is no recovery.  No lawyer can ethically guarantee that their services will ultimately be successful in achieving particular goals.  However, we believe you should be able to count on the fact that we are focused on your success, and we will do what it takes, will be available when needed, and get the resources necessary to accomplish your desired result.

How do we intend to win your injury lawsuit?  We intend to win your lawsuit through a combination of medical/legal know-how, hard work and simple, no-nonsense solutions whenever possible.  Individuals choose an attorney because they like that attorney, the attorney is successful for them, and can be trusted to put the client’s needs ahead of the law firm’s.

We also believe strongly in giving back to our community by providing legal services to Maine citizens who cannot afford to hire an attorney.  We accomplish this in a variety of ways, in particular, through our service to the Volunteer Lawyer Project, and through participation in the Court-approved Guardian Ad Litem program which provides a legal voice to children and the elderly.
